Jessica & Megan: Maine Wedding Photographer

There can be many obstacles a couple faces during the planning of the wedding~ what if their venue isn't available, what if Clare is already booked (:D), what if hydrangeas aren't in season... well imagine if you would if you were a couple planning on tying the knot and you weren't sure if your marriage was going to be legal in the eyes of your state!!

That is something Jess & Megan faced when they each took turns proposing to each other in the perfect way, setting a date and then sending out their Save the Dates with a barley noticeable disclaimer at the bottom stating that their marriage may or may not be legal when it happens.

Well of course, good news for all of us, in November Maine citizens voted for Marriage Rights and Equality for all, and Megan and Jessica legally tied the knot in July and I was beyond blessed to be a witness to it all

The couple tied the knot at the Barn on Walnut Hill in Yarmouth ~ it was an amazing day

As you will see in a moment, the theme for the day was the written word.. so everything from poems to books was on display for the wedding day...

This photographer's dream~ not one but two pairs of sassy shoes

The ladies got ready together and were able to be there for each other during that pre ceremony time...

Very few formals were taken~ instead the day was focused on the great time their guests were having...
Below was essentially a series of 30 seconds of photos where I was able to capture just one standard portrait and then I continued shooting as the ladies had a moment before their families joined them

Including their 2 dapper sons

The written word ~ poems and sonnets hung by trees and greeted their guests as they made their way to the ceremony site

Guests were asked to hold a stone during the ceremony and make a wish ~ the stones were then collected along with their well wishes for the newlyweds

The ladies walked in part way together and then each was escorted the rest of the way by people nearest and dearest to them

The ceremony was very personal with many readings, poems written just for them and handwritten vows which brought many to tears

Finally the excitement on their faces as they exchanged rings was priceless

Sealed with a kiss and a hug...

At the end of the ceremony the most amazing this happened... much to all the guests and Megan's surprise this young lady stood up and started singing..

And this boy came out of the woods ~ and so did more...

It truly was one of the most amazing things...

Some of my favorite reception and table details

Toasts and well wishes were given and then guests enjoyed a dinner provided by the awesome staff at Blue Elephant Catering

After dinner it was off to the barn for dancing and merriment

Megan and Jessica thank you so much for allowing me to document your wedding day for you~
it truly was my pleasure!!!  Much happiness!
